Delhi-Chopta-Tehri-Mussorie-Delhi

While returning from my first Himalyan experience (Hemkunt Saheb & Valley of flowers) I, with my friends, came accross this beautiful place - Chopta. Due to time constraint, we could not get a good chance to experience it and I decided to anyhow visit this place again, provided, my Beast Yamaha FZS is with me.
The Beast
Soooo..... Here we are.. on Saturday, 08th September,2012, me and my friend Harsh Kumar Chauhan decided to have a four day (08th to 11th September) trip to Chopta. This time we included Tehri Dam to our experience. Therefore we decided to take this route Delhi-Haridwar-Rudraprayag-Chopta-Tilwara-Tehri-Chamba-Mussorie-DehraDun-Delhi.

About the place:
  • Chopta is small settlement and Commencement point to 3rd of Panch Kedar Tungnath About 3.5km from chopta.
  • Another 1k.m from Tungnath leads to Chandrashila Peak.
  • Chopta offers amazing views of the imposing Himalayan range including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba.
  • This place is popularly known as 'Mini Switzerland' in Uttarakhand
Altitude from Sea level: 2,680 mts.

How to Reach: Chopta can be reached by via Ukhimath or Gopeshwar. There are small Shops & rooms available with basic facility for Trekkers to Tungnath.
Bus: Delhi - Rudraprayag and then Rudraprayag - Chopta.

Best time to visit: April to November.

Here is a brief Itinerary of the trip:

Budget: INR 3100/- per traveller

15 min break @ ananymous tea stall
We decided to leave at 04:00 am in the morning on Saturday,---. Hell!!! it was raining at 04:00 am. But we had this 'Keeda' and decided to leave with a hope we will get rid of it within half an hour as we reach NH58. But to our badluck.. we are gonna face it till mujaffarnagar :(
Anyways, after having breakfast from McD mujaffarnagar, we left and reached Rishikesh @10:00 am. Again had a Tea break at Shivpuri at this tea stall.

And now, as we have entered the Mighty Himalayas, I can surely tell and suggest that Days - Just after the monsoon - are the best to visit and experience the beauty of the Himalayas. Here are some nerve chilling preview we got...

Roads tell the success story of SHIVALIK project
Riding a Bike along the Ganges - what an experience!

HairPin Bend.. a lot of these coming ahead - one of the greatest reason bikers love Himalayas
3rd tea break at Devprayag - the confluence of Alaknanda& Bhagirathi, from here onwards river Ganges becomes 'officially GANGA'

As per plan, our first day halt would be at RudraPrayag. Although, Delhi-Rudra Prayag is ~ 350 km, we reached Rudraprayag at 7:30 PM. We met our first day target, and thats good. We found Sangam Hotel for only INR 250.00 for night stay. Our sleeping habbit ruined our schedule a bit. We woke up at 8:30 am! and the plan was to leave for Chopta at 6:00 am.

Day 2:

Now heading towards Chopta.. we came across these scenic views... thats like BONUS:

AgastyaMuni, Rudraprayag Distt.
To our surprise, we found a Yamaha Service Centre in this remote area.. why not have our 'beast feeded' at the service station..
Harsh Kumar Chauhan - Engg. in Fluid Mechanics, time to check some fluids.
Here is some more BONUS enroute Chopta:

After having our beast feeded at the Yamaha Service station, we were again, on the heaven's ride.....
I can surely tell and suggest anyone.. once the ascend to Chopta has begun, you will enjoy each and every moment of the ride.... and here is the proof....

One may wish that this Road never ends.. and finally we are at Chopta. Tunganath temple is at 3km Trek from Chopta so lets enjoy the trek closest to nature ......
